Things About The Kids

Last New Year's Eve we went to the Brewster's home for their annual game-night party. Among the contests was a pull up bar. I tell you what, Kieran is a pull-up warrior! I don't know where that power came from, but he totally showed up many an adult. He's also pretty great at the piano - when he chooses to try. ;-)

I recently discovered Asher can do handstands. Like, effortlessly. He thought everybody could do them, and had therefore never thought it worth mentioning.

Hollyn started gymnastics a couple weeks ago. I think she's had 3 classes, plus she attended "open gym" last Friday. I think she's really going to pick this up fast. She is working hard and truly delighting in it. I don't know how long the other kids in her class have been doing this, but she was clearly the only newbie in this level one class that just started after Spring Break. The first day it was clear she didn't know the terms or what was really going on, but man could she give a beautiful landing pose. Lol. By the 2nd week, (in my amateur opinion), I feel like she's right there, ability-wise, with the other kids who have been doing this longer. It's exciting to watch her go after this. Oh, and she's pretty good at rock climbing. At least compared to the other kids who chicken out pretty fast. (Like their Mama.) She says "I love heights."

Asher likes shots. Yes, like the needles. I think in both his and Hollyn's case, they just wanted to have a thing that makes them feel superior to their siblings. Weird choices.

Brennan started French Horn lessons in February. His teacher is quite good - a college student, but a semi-professional horn friend of mine, who recommended this teacher, said he'd learned some things he'd never known about the french horn before from this guy. Anyway, that's been a fun addition to our crazy schedule. His current obsession is Dungeons and Dragons.

Kylea writes a lot of stories, and they're quite good. She wants to be an author, archeologist, and paleontologist when she grows up and I have no doubt she'll accomplish these or any goals she has.

Happy 14th!

Just some fun during piano lessons.

You can't even tell them apart, can you!

Hollyn and Ky, Kroc Center 4/2019

March 2019, just chatting up a nutria on our walk home. (Kinda fun to live by a wetlands boardwalk)

Hollyn and Asher and I saw the High School's Beauty and the Beast. Belle and Beast are both from my ward/stake...

... as was Chip. Who happens to be Hollyn's friend. (A couple other stake/ward friends also in the production. Us church members are kind of a big deal.)

A.C. Gilbert House with some Richardson cousins!
