First Nather Christmas

Image
Checking out the gifts from Santa The Night Before Christmas for 5 kids, 2 dolls, and some stuffed animals. Sea Lights at the Aquarium was fun, though rainy and cold that evening. A highlight was watching Diving Santa read us a story and answer questions as he scuba dived in a tank.   As a Sunday movie ("Classics Sunday"), I turned on The Nutcracker. I fully expected everyone to wander away within 10 minutes. To my surprise every.last.kid. watched the entire movie! Well, kinda. The girls started dancing along, which turned into about a hundred costume changes. They probably missed more than they watched by the end. Kieran danced along too, but his wand turned into a light saber of sorts for his interpretation of the classic story. A highlight of the season is always the Underwater Audio Christmas party. Not really any pictures this year, but most of the kids performed during the talent show to qualif...

Snow Day Winter 2018/2019

Snow Day during Christmas Break 2019. Our first as the Nather Family. As family fun days tend to do, the trip began on a bit of shakey legs. There may or may not have been some grouchiness and fussing (by the grownups).  But it turned out to be the absolutely most PERFECT day to play in the snow. We had aimed for a snow park like Ray Benson or Hoodoo. About 5 minutes shy of those parks, we reached a chains required area. The roads didn't look bad, really, but we pulled over and considered. We had JUST passed several little side-of-the-road snow parks or areas where families had pulled into side roads just to play. Ultimately, Nate didn't feel like bothering with the chains, so we turned around the pulled into the nearest more "rustic" snow park. After a bit of a walk we got to a small hillside that worked great for sledding, as we could see others before us had done. The entire time we played there, we were the only people doing so. Every so often some people...

Zoo Day 1/2019

Image
While Brennan enjoyed learning and helping Nate install house siding, the rest of the kids accompanied me to the zoo. Sounds fair, right? ;-) (I didn't feel toooo bad since Brennan had gotten to go to Wings and Waves waterpark with a friend and often gets to go do fun things without the rest of us.) Reverse order: Trying hard to smile as we passed the elephants on our way back to the car... ...Can't fake it anymore. It's freezing out here! Kieran identifies with the cheetah due to his own super speed.  * This lioness kept coming up to the glass to socialize with us. It was so cool! Ummm... Just, wow. They are ALWAYS hungry!

Salem House Update - The Sanding Begins!

2/2/19 * Why would someone paint the middle of every room's floor, you ask? That is a mystery Nate and I ask ourselves every day. This bedroom was mostly painted, though not evenly; the other bed room just had a couple of large swatches. 🤷 The Before Whoah!
